Jenna Govier, Counsellor
Hi, I’m Jenna and together with my husband Jonathan, we are the heart behind Sound Mind Counselling and Family Therapies. Starting this practice has been a deeply personal journey for me. I know firsthand how life can throw unexpected challenges your way. From navigating motherhood and family complexities to overcoming trauma and grief, I’ve walked through seasons that have shaped who I am and how I work with others.
I became a counsellor because I believe in the power of connection, empathy, understanding, and healing. My approach is warm, honest, and down-to-earth—I’m not here to “fix” you but to walk alongside you as we figure things out together. Whether you’re facing relationship struggles, parenting challenges, or personal loss, my goal is to create a space where you feel truly seen and supported.
I’m an ACA Level 1 accredited counsellor, with additional trainings in Level 1 and 2 Gottman Method, Christian counselling, and pregnancy loss support. I specialise in couples counselling, family dynamics, and grief. Above all of this, my main focus is on meeting people where they are, without judgment and with compassion.
Outside of work, I’m a mum navigating the ups and downs of parenthood, which continually shapes and inspires my practice. Life can be messy, but you don’t have to face the mess alone. We can do it together.

Jonathan Govier, Business Manager
Hi, I’m Jonathan, Business Manager at Sound Mind Counselling and Family Therapies. My role is to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes, handling the practical side of the business so Jenna can focus on supporting our wonderful clients. Coming from a background in driving and mechanics, I’ve always been someone who likes to repair things, stay organised, and make life a little easier for those around me.
I’ve always been passionate about helping people, and in 2025, I’ll be starting my own journey into counselling studies. I’m looking forward to learning and growing in this field, building on the values of connection, care, and community that Jenna and I share in our practice.
Outside of work, I’m a husband and dad who loves the everyday moments with my family. I believe in showing up, doing the hard work, and finding ways to make a real difference—whether it’s at home, in business, or through counselling.
